From solar system to humanity
What do scientific materials and objects tell us, and how do we gain new, original knowledge? From the grandeur of the earth, the dynamism of life, to the origins of humans and civilizations, we display 56 scientific specimens (or specimen sets) that have inspired us at the University of Tokyo. These extend from the solar system to the abyssal sea and from the diversity of life to human civilization. These specimens were chosen by scientists covering a wide range of disciplines, including earth and planetary sciences, paleontology and paleobiology, evolutionary morphology and genetics, systematic biology, conservational biology, comparative morphology and dead body science, paleoanthropology and prehistory, and Andean and Near Eastern archaeology.
