ーtype collection in paleontology
One of primary functions of university museums is long-term preservation of specimens produced by daily academic activities. Leading characteristics of the University Museum, the University of Tokyo exist in history: Developmental processes of various fields of natural and social sciences have preserved in the collection. Paleontology is a representative field holding specimen-rich collection. More than 30000 specimens of fossils has been illustrated, described or cited in nearly 1000 publications since 1881. All of these specimens are catalogued in a database with information of literature citation. PDF files describing the specimens can be downloaded from the database or from outside links.
